The powers that be at Celtic must be fully prepared to make one of the biggest and most important calls this summer.
Who becomes the next man in the Celtic Park dugout could well dictate the direction the club goes in, not just next season, but in the coming years.
Several names have been linked to the hotseat of the champions of Scotland, including the current Wales manager, Craig Bellamy.
67 Hail Hail asked our TalkingPoints users whether or not you would accept having Bellamy as Celtic’s next manager, and this is a flavour of what you all had to say.
He has seriously impressed in charge of Wales…

Celtic fans share a strong stance on Craig Bellamy becoming the next manager
Celtic have been meek and soft on the pitch this season, and in the boardroom, but it’s the supporters sharing a tough stance on this topic.
It’s fair to say that there isn’t an in-between when it comes to our TalkingPoints users deciding if they do or don’t want the former striker on board.
There are several of you who are just dead against the idea of Bellamy coming in, whilst others have liked his approach since he took over the Wales gig.
Now, Wales won’t be going to the World Cup this summer after they were beaten in the play-offs by Bosnia and Herzegovina, so it makes Celtic’s life a lot easier to negotiate with Bellamy if they wish this summer.
But several of you mentioned how the outspoken coach is a ‘loose cannon’, and that’s one of the reasons why they don’t want him returning to Glasgow.
Either way, this is a selection of what all of you had to say, and there are some very interesting thoughts:
- mckeendianne: ‘NO definitely NOT.’
- mcewen27: ‘Nope.’
- mhbgilchrist: ‘I’m happy to see he is in the running. He will likely go on to achieve great things in his club managerial career. Why not start in Paradise? There are stronger candidates, but are we able to get them? I don’t see Bellamy as a massive risk.’
- smithstevie55: ‘No Celtic affiliation…was paid …feel with him it’s all about Craig… Scott Brown all day long with the current coaches.’
- jo797522: “Yes, a must.’
- scorc3529: ‘He’s worth a look. I’ve already stated elsewhere I’d have 2 lists, one with good managers who’ve proven themselves, another with coaches who have impressed and should be worth a look if we can’t get a top man. He should definitely be in the conversation.’
- wull4: ‘Yes, would love Craig Bellamy.’
- mick67hail: ‘Craig Bellamy isn’t the answer, bring back Fergus McCann, he’ll sort out the boardroom carry on as Celtic only used 20% of all income and added nothing to the team. We need a power of players, let McGregor go to new pastures, he’s so slow of late.’
- collymcevoy: ‘No.’
- jamestrainer05: ‘We could get Pep, but if things don’t change in the way the club is run, it won’t make a blind bit of difference. We had an elite manager & the board chased him out because he called out their insane decisions. A complete overhaul from top to bottom is required.’
- dale.odonnell: ‘Desperate times call for desperate measures.’
- tommyc7: ‘No, he is a loose cannon.’
- paul.shearin: ‘Absolutely not. Doesn’t have the temperament to manage Celtic. Too much of a loose cannon.’
- johnprior999: ‘He’d be full on but probably a bit too much……I know it’s not popular, but I’d go for Steve Clarke… the idea that he only knows defensive team set up is nonsense. I understand this will not be a popular view, but I think it’s a missed opportunity.’
- djdocherty57: ‘No thanks.’
- cor59: ‘No.’
