Celtic fans sound their fury as Neil Lennon digs in, club fall silent and update indicates stay
It’s fair to say Celtic fans aren’t pleased with Neil Lennon right now.
Even the most ardent of supporters have to acknowledge that his second spell has hit the buffers.
For me, there’s no way back from here. The potential ten-in-a-row season is in tatters, the squad is in a precarious state heading into the summer and on the pitch we look devoid of ideas.
Lennon isn’t to blame for everything going wrong at the club. However, almost everything under his own remit is not functioning properly.
He has to go. As quickly as possible.
Sadly, he’s digging in. He’s refusing to resign from the club despite horrendous form. Lennon has told reporters that he’ll be in the dugout for as long as Celtic want him.
The club, meanwhile, seem intent on maintaining a stony silence. Their only substantial regular communication these days seems to come through journalists and media outlets.
Such is the case today. Sky Sports man Anthony Joseph has reported that the club’s review of Lennon’s position is ‘ongoing’ and will be completed by the end of the month.
Neil Lennon has lost the Celtic fans
That’s not quick enough for plenty of people. The reaction to a report that Lennon seemingly won’t be sacked today has gone down terribly online.
Celtic need to be aware that this isn’t moaning contained to a small section of supporters. Patience has run out. Even those who feel sorry for Lennon would prefer to see him leave the club.
The club face a season ticket crisis if this current mood continues. And it likely will if action is not taken quickly.
Record numbers backed the team with cash this season. The board won’t be so lucky in 2021 unless they show ambition and leadership.
Supporters have sounded their fury on social media today, reacting to the latest update on the manager…
If the club were to sack him it would have been today.
Sadly he’s here until at least the end of the season. https://t.co/vIHLKbPQIX

I’m now of the view they are genuinely shell shocked and have no plan whatsoever – they just don’t know what to do – the whole club is paralysed https://t.co/5x201MjODh

What else can they review? We’re worse off than we were when they announced they were doing it. Absolutely hate everyone running this club just now. They’re all a disgrace. https://t.co/H6YwQBeflo

What exactly is going to happen in the next ten days that is going to change the situation from what it is now? https://t.co/O6GDLMkOiy

Between now and the end of Jan, Celtic have home games vs Accies and St Mirren. I really do wonder what instructive lessons would be learned between now and 31/01 that don’t apply already.
You’d assume Celtic win both so is that enough to pass the test? https://t.co/cmVXimhqnS

This is beyond ridiculous.
What will they know at the end of the month that we don’t know now?
Playing chicken with the Celtic support. It could backfire spectacularly. https://t.co/nQnuTb477i

It’s clear to me that they don’t have a clue what their next step is. They’ll be hoping we might actually win the next 2 games then use that as an excuse to keep him on 🙃 https://t.co/JlmBj3XrtX
