Celtic legend Henrik Larsson is a player who was, hands down, the best to grace Scottish football in recent history.
The Swedish superstar’s scoring record was second to none as Larsson led Celtic to unprecedented domestic success and a name to be feared across Europe.
In Scotland, Henrik Larsson won eight domestic honours comprising of four league titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups with a small matter of a treble tucked in there.
In 315 appearances for Celtic, Larsson scored 242 goals and was the top goalscorer in the Scottish Premier Leauge in five out of six seasons.
He also fired the Celtics to the 2003 UEFA Cup final, in which he scored a double. And let’s not forget that Larsson also scored 35 goals across all levels in Europe.
So when former Rangers player Ross McCormack made this claim about the Celtic legend and ex-Ibrox striker Michael Mols, it’s little wonder Hoops fans’ jaws hit the floor.

Ross McCormack makes Michael Mols ‘better than’ Celtic legend Henrik Larsson claim
Speaking to Scott Allan and picking a combined Celtic/Rangers team of the century, McCormack made this claim about the two former Celtic and Rangers strikers.
McCormack told Superscoreboard, “There won’t be many people that agree with me, but he if he didn’t do his cruciate against Bayern Munich, and by the way, I’ll say it right now, a Celtic fan, he would have been better than him.
“I’m more than happy to say that. This guy was phenomenal, phenomenal.”
Allan, in disbelief, said, “Better than Larsson?”
McCormack continued, “We were robbed of a guy who could have been incredible, obviously, for the Scottish game.
“I’m more than happy to put my neck on the line and say that I believe he would have been better than Larsson.”
Where to even start with this one? McCormack seems to forget that Larsson suffered his own horrific injury when he broke his leg against Lyon in a UEFA Cup tie in 1999 and made an incredible comeback in his career.
The Celtic legend also went on to play for Barcelona and win the Champions League and then for Manchester United.
Celtic fans offer Theirry Henry advice after McCormack’s Henrik Larssson Michael Mols claim
First off, it has to be said that Mols had a great scoring record prior to his terrible injury, and he was an excellent striker, but McCormack’s claim was firmly put to bed by Celtic supporters.
One Celtic supporter also replied, “Larsson came back from a horrible injury, went on to score 50 goals in one season and got us to a UEFA Cup Final, left us, went on to play for Man United and Barcelona, who he won the Champions League with. I couldn’t tell you where Mols went if my life depended on it.”
Another Hoops fan reacted with a fair and balanced reply: “Genuinely the worst take I’ve ever heard. Mols was always a very good player pre-injury, but he was nowhere near Larsson as a goal scorer and all-around team player. Literally light-years ahead.”
Another Celtic fan also said, “Not a chance, Larsson came back from a horrific injury and was better when he came back.”
Even a Rangers fan couldn’t believe McCormack’s take:
And the last word goes to this Celtic fan who ended the debate with this reply, “Michael Mols was a great player but let’s make this easy, let’s just ask one of the best strikers that European football has seen. Thierry Henry.”
