Brendan Rodgers was asked about his meeting with Kieran Tierney this week after both were spotted at a Celtic charity fundraiser in London last week.
The Celtic boss had to address the Tierney meeting and admitted that whilst it was ‘great to see him’ Rodgers played down the meeting with the out-of-favour Arsenal defender.
Reports earlier last week suggested that Tierney has made a Celtic decision as his Arsenal future hung in the balance.
And after Rodgers’ comments last week, many Celtic fans welcomed the news of a potential return to Paradise for Tierney but only under one condition.
Kieran Tierney’s fitness is a concern for Celtic fans
Kieran Tierney has not had the best time of it when it comes to injuries. As well as having problems at Celtic, the Scotland fullback has had injury issues at Arsenal and even during his loan spell at Real Sociedad.
And that has sparked concern amongst some Celtic fans amid the Tierney rumours.
One Celtic fan said, “He’s probably in the top 10 left backs in World Football. Despite his injuries, I think that’s a gamble a club like Celtic has to take when the opportunity arises, if they could get Taylor to re-sign, then they could manage Tierney’s game time properly & get the best out of him.”

Another Celtic fan said, “If he can stay fit, absolutely.” and another commented simply, “In a heartbeat.”
It seems Tierney fits the bill for this fan, “We need a good, fast and taller left back. If he can stay fit I would take him in a minute.” as another commented, “Looks like he’s missed us more than we missed him, but would welcome him back 🍀”
What Kieran Tierney has previously said about Celtic as rumours intensify
Tierney has never really left Celtic despite transferring to Arsenal almost five years ago now. The club is always in his heart and he regularly speaks about it.
The 27-year-old once said he still has a ‘very close’ bond with Celtic coaching staff despite leaving Glasgow in 2019.
Tierney has also admitted that whilst he misses the club, he has never regretted choosing to leave Celtic for Arsenal.
The Arsenal defender is also vocal about supporting his old team after he admitted to being ‘devastated’ at Celtic drawing with Rangers last season after going 3-2 up late on at Ibrox as the game finished 3-3.
Being a Celtic supporter all his life a return to Paradise would certainly appeal to Tierney so if it can happen, it will ultimately be down to the Parkhead money-men on whether or not a deal can be brokered to make the move happen.
