Celtic have released their ‘Unique Angle’ footage from the team’s clash against Yokohama F. Marinos.

On Wednesday, the Hoops went down 6-4 to the reigning Japanese champions in a sweltering pre-season friendly.

The club’s footage released soon after shows the best of the four Celtic goals, including Daizen Maeda‘s sublime first-half hat-trick.

Maeda was one of five Japanese players returning to his homeland. With the attacker, Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate all full internationals with the Samurai Blue, it was a pretty hyped return.

The Nissan Stadium was hardly full for the fixture. The historic arena is vast and holds 72,327 according to the Marinos website.

Celtic’s post-match video highlighted the crowd for the Wednesday clash, with The Japan Times announcing the turnout as 20,263.

To be totally fair to F. Marinos, they don’t even get much higher crowds for competitive fixtures.

The Yokohama outfit are averaging 27,081 so far this season according to Transfer Markt. It seems like their stadium is far too big for their fanbase.

Celtic will be playing in the more intimate Panasonic Stadium Suita on Saturday. Gamba Osaka are averaging 21,516 in the 40,000 ground (Osaka Mice) so far this season so the stadium should at least be half-full rather than a quarter-full.

Let’s hope that inspires the team to some better defending.
