Liel Abada won’t be coming home from the Israel national team camp despite a quad muscle injury scare in training last night, Sport 5 have reported.
Abada was pictured receiving treatment in his homeland as Israel prepare for Euro 2024 qualifiers against Kosovo and Switzerland over the next week. There were concerns he may have suffered a tear and would be forced to withdraw.
However, the good news from Israeli outlet Sport 5 is that medical staff think he’s only stretched the muscle and that he’ll even be in line to play the upcoming international matches if managed correctly.

Abada is even quoted as saying, “I feel much better than yesterday.”
Israel are remaining cautious, however. Abada is due to undergo a scan tomorrow to get the full picture and make sure there’s no risk of injury. The team also prepared some training routines in the event the young Celtic winger wouldn’t be able to play this weekend.
However, fears of a tear have been averted, which was a worst-case scenario overnight. Celtic don’t need any of their players to suffer injuries ahead of a huge period of matches from April onwards.
The Bhoys are taking a pragmatic approach on stars such as Aaron Mooy, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor at the moment – all of whom have been nursing issues and haven’t travelled to meet up with their countries during this match window.
Abada loves playing for his country and likely only a serious issue would have necessitated his return to Glasgow – although I do hope his national team physios and manager don’t take any undue risks.
The attacker has scored 12 goals so far this season despite featuring off the bench more often than in the starting line-up. Only Kyogo Furuhashi has scored more and Abada’s knack for scoring will be very handy between now and May.
