Celtic hero Chris Sutton has delighted fans with his hilarious assessment of the bizarre night he had with BT Sport.
Sutton was meant to be providing analysis for Real Betis v Celtic, and Lyon v Rangers, from a studio set up at Ibrox. Alongside Neil Lennon, the Premier League and SPL winner was employed by BT Sports to give typically honest assessments on both games. Nothing unusual there.
Except, both Sutton and Lennon were locked out of Ibrox.
With the club citing security concerns as a reason for the shut-out, BT Sport were forced to improvise, with Stiliyan Petrov called in to analyse the Celtic game against Betis.
It all looked quite strange. But after Lyon toppled Rangers, Sutton gave a withering assessment of the evening. On Twitter, he said:
Cold as ice, Mr Sutton. The guy is the king of withering put-downs. What else could anyone have expected from the former striker?
Albeit, BT Sport could probably have used an ex-Rangers player alongside Sutton for balance, with neither the Englishman nor Lennon particularly popular around Paisley Road West.
But to shut them out completely? And thereby admit that, as a club, Rangers couldn’t sufficiently protect two individuals? It’s very small-time stuff.
Luckily, Sutton could have a laugh about it afterwards. He wasn’t alone in that.
Celtic supporters, ever-ready to indulge in a touch of schadenfreude, were prepared and willing to applaud Sutton for his bleak verdict on what he missed at Ibrox.

Naturally, plenty of Bhoys fans were around to enjoy a laugh with the ex-Celtic striker.
While Celtic may also have lost on the night, they went down fighting. What’s more, at least the club are able to host a variety of pundits, despite their association with other clubs.
