Celtic hero, Chris Sutton, is certainly one of Scottish football’s most outspoken pundits.

What many like about Chris Sutton is that he is just as quick to criticise Celtic as he is with other clubs in the league.

The big Englishman calls it as he sees it and what many of the Celtic support like is that he’s not afraid to criticise their club fairly.

And, let’s be honest, the Hoops support also enjoys it when Sutton criticises Rangers because his words seem to annoy the Ibrox support the most even when his analysis is balanced and fair.

So when the former Celtic striker mentions the possibility of Aberdeen finishing second in the Scottish Premiership table to Celtic, you can be sure the Ibrox support is going to be unhappy about it.

Sutton says it’s possible Aberdeen could split Celtic and Rangers

Aberdeen’s form this season has even had pundits like Gary Lineker talking about The Dons challenging Celtic for the league.

And now, big Sutton has weighed in on the debate with an opinion that is sure to annoy the Rangers fans,

Sutton told the It’s All Kicking Off podcast, “I think Aberdeen have won every game so have Celtic this season.

“So there is a team outside of Celtic and Rangers in the top two. I mean, there is a possibility Aberdeen could split Celtic and Rangers this season.”

Celtic face their biggest test of the season vs Aberdeen

Many people will suggest that saying Aberdeen is Celtic’s biggest test is mischief-making but the stats do not lie.

Unbeaten in the league, Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen looks a different animal compared to the team that struggled to finish in the top six last season and Celtic need to be wary of that.

The Dons have scored 15 goals in seven games but have conceded six and that is a weakness that Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers, can expose.

The 3pm Saturday kick-off is highly anticipated by the Celtic support but with the kind of football Rodgers has his team playing, they will be confident of picking up all three points at Celtic Park and to put daylight between both clubs at the top of the table.
