There have been many big-name players who have played for Celtic, but struggled to deal with the pressure after putting on the shirt.

Celtic have had their fair share, but in recent times, it has been Rangers enhancing those numbers given their two decades of struggle.

One man who had a short stint at Celtic was Roy Keane. Despite his six months in the famous green and white colours, he still picked up two trophies, including winning at Ibrox.

But Keane was, amazingly enough, named in a list of SPFL ‘flops’.

Roy Keane makes SPFL ‘flop’ list

The ‘flop’ list, provided by the Warm-Up Podcast, only contained those big-name players who joined from English sides.

Three Rangers players featured, including two who have played in recent times – loudmouth Joey Barton and penalty miss wonder Aaron Ramsey.

Former wonderkid Francis Jeffers also made the list, alongside the no-nonsense Keane and Brazil flair machine Juninho.

“So, five big hitters, big-name players, from England, who came north of the border, failed and flopped,” said Sutton.

“Okay, we don’t know who they are (the five-man list). But let’s roll them over.

“Joey Barton. Keane, is that Roy Keane or Robbie Keane? Juninho. Ramsey, is that Gordon? Or Aaron? And Francis Jeffers. I can’t even remember Jeffers. He was at Rangers?”

Celtic hero Chris Sutton ranks SPFL ‘flops’ and slams Keane call

When Keane’s name popped up, Chris Sutton rightfully labelled it as ‘ridiculous’ and put him bottom of the five-man list.

The former striker then mentioned Juninho, whom he played alongside for a brief period of time, including how he just couldn’t get game time for ‘such a strong’ Martin O’Neill team.

“On the basis, I didn’t know Jeffers. Juninho, I played with. So, my five is going to be. It’s ridiculous that Roy Keane is actually on here.”

Steven Naismith: “Feel uncomfortable talking about him that way.”

Sutton: “Just in case we meet him in the street, he would knock us all out. Roy Keane (fifth), Juninho (fourth), who I played with briefly at Celtic under Martin O’Neill. Couldn’t get a game. What a player he was. We had such a strong team back then. We absolutely used to smash you.”

  1. Ramsey
  2. Jeffers
  3. Barton
  4. Juninho
  5. Keane
