Celtic issue stark season ticket reminder

Celtic have reminded season ticket holders that they only have a week to renew for the 2021/22 season.

In previous years the club has always extended the initial deadline to renew. There are valid reasons why someone might have to delay securing their seats.

However, this summer the club are insisting they cannot extend the deadline from next Friday 25th June at 5 pm. It’s explained this is due to the club trying to be fan-ready for the new season. They want reduced capacity crowds into Celtic Park as soon as possible.

Some supporters have expressed concerns about renewing in the current climate, with uncertainty surrounding the future direction of the club and preparedness for the footballing challenges in the new season.

It’s also unknown how many matches supporters will be able to attend throughout the 21/22 campaign.

The club said today: “Supporters are reminded that the deadline to renew Season Tickets for 2021/22 is fast approaching, with 5pm on Friday, June 25 the cut-off to renew.

“We are unable to extend the deadline this year and there is just 1 week left to renew for the campaign ahead.

“We are encouraged by fans returning to sporting events taking place at Hampden and Glasgow Green this month and we are working hard behind the scenes to prepare for supporters to make a safe return to Celtic Park.

“The deadline of 5pm on Friday, June 25 will help us to be fan-ready for reduced capacity matches at Paradise, hopefully starting with the pre-season friendly at home next month against Preston North End (July 17).”

Celtic season ticket sales will be fascinating

The matches in July require fans to register for an additional ballot once they’ve bought their season tickets. This will give them a chance of attending a game in person for the first time since March 2020.

Celtic say ‘thousands’ have already renewed. However, it’s unclear whether numbers hold up anywhere near the record amount of ticket sales last summer that the club trumpeted.

The club will be hoping they do. The scale of the rebuild required this summer is huge. Season ticket sales are one of our main income sources. Have Celtic done enough to convince supporters it’s worth investing in the club?
