Celtic icon Scott Brown has been left sweating over his latest injury concern after he was forced to come off for Aberdeen with a hamstring injury on a big night for him.
The Dons’ 1-1 draw with St Johnstone marked Brown’s first game as a part of Barry Robson’s coaching staff. However, as is the norm, Broony started the match and looked to assert his authority on the midfield.
But it certainly didn’t go to plan. Already 1-0 down thanks to an early Callum Hendry strike, Brown had to come off midway through the second half after clutching his hamstring and going to ground. The Aberdeen star had to limp off the Pittodrie surface, where he stood by Robson for the rest of the game.

Even at this early stage, there isn’t any certainty over how long Brown might be out for. Whether it was a slight knock or a major issue has yet to be revealed.
Robson spoke to Aberdeen’s in-house media team post-match, but only had the following to say: “We don’t know. I think he’s struggling a wee bit with his hamstring. But if there’s any player in the world who’s going to be there on Saturday if he could then it would be him.”
Aberdeen travel to Fir Park to take on Motherwell in another vital league match this weekend.
Waiting game for Scott Brown as Barry Robson’s managerial debut doesn’t go to plan
A massively disappointing night all-round for Aberdeen in truth. Celtic fans will have watched on with interest given we’re talking about 2 former Hoops midfielders in the dugout. However, there’s no denying they should’ve been coming away with that one with 3 points.
Brown did come close to a stunning equaliser minutes after St Johnstone took the lead. However, he could only rattle the crossbar from distance despite having Zander Clark beaten.
The equaliser came in the final 20 minutes when Lewis Ferguson slotted home a penalty. But after Ferguson then missed a glorious headed opportunity in stoppage time, it left Robson ruing 2 points dropped against the side sitting bottom of the Premiership.

As for Broony, we all wish him a speedy recovery. Hopefully it was nothing too serious and he can perhaps be included for this weekend’s trip to Fir Park. Even if Aberdeen have been struggling throughout the campaign, they’ll still feel a further negative effect without Brown in the middle of the park.
Perhaps more concerningly is that the injury came about with nobody really near the former Celtic captain. It came after a long punt up the park as Aberdeen looked to pile on some late pressure. But for now, it’s all just guesswork as we await the timeframe.
Fingers crossed it doesn’t end up being anything major.
