With the Celtic first-team not featuring until Sunday, there’s a fair chance you may have spent your Saturday afternoon away from football.

Brendan Rodgers‘ Hoops venture to Pittodrie for the lunch-time kick-off where we will be able to go back to the top of the Premiership.

But, right at this moment, we’re not in first place. That honour belongs to St. Mirren who maintained their 100% start to the season with victory over Dundee on Saturday.

Premiership results:
Rangers 4-0 Livingston
Ross County 2-0 St. Johnstone
St. Mirren 2-1 Dundee

In the Championship, two stars of the future who departed Celtic on loan this week made early debuts.

Ben McPherson came on after 61 minutes for Queen’s Park in their 2-1 win over Arbroath while Ben Summers was introduced after 57 minutes for Dunfermline Athletic.

The Pars led Dundee United at Tannadice until the 95th minute when Matthew Cudjoe equalised for a share of the spoils.

It’s positive that McPherson and Summers are featuring so soon after signing. We can expect to see both starting games in the not too distant future.

In England, Scott Brown’s Fleetwood Town fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Cambridge United. The Cods have one point from their opening two league matches and also exited the EFL Cup in midweek.

The news was better for Brown’s former team-mate Odsonne Edouard who struck the only goal in Crystal Palace’s 1-0 away win over Sheffield United.

The forward was Palace’s main striker during pre-season and netted three goals in five friendly clashes.

But scoring a winning goal in their Premier League opener is a whole different thing. Let’s hope he’s ready to kick-on and show the quality we all know he has.

In other news, Celtic B were also in action but it was a disappointing afternoon in Edinburgh
