Celtic have announced that the opening league fixture of the new season against Ross County has now officially sold out. In an announcement on Twitter, the club confirmed that the 12:30pm kick-off at Paradise will host 60,000 supporters as the new Brendan Rogers era gets underway.

Incredibly, the club informed supporters just before 12pm today that there were a limited amount of tickets available to purchase for the fixture against Malky McKay’s men and just before 2pm this afternoon, the announcement was made that the match was a sell-out.

The Celtic support will be well used to these days. ‘Flag Day’, as it’s more commonly known, has been experienced by the Hoops support on 17 occasions this century but this upcoming one will be a little bit more special.

The Celtic support will get to see their new-look squad, with a new manager for the first time at home this season. The new signings will get to sample the unique atmosphere at Celtic Park which they will hopefully get accustomed to for many more years yet.

Of course, sell-out crowds are not anything new to the club. Every home league game last season was sold out as Celtic, under Ange Postecoglou, romped the league and threw another treble into the bargain.

And by the looks of it, nothing much is going to change under the new manager, Brendan Rodgers. Despite the controversy surrounding his appointment, it is clear that the Celtic supporters are backing the new manager to deliver success next season.

Rodgers has already stated that he plans to build a team to help not only defend the Treble but also to make his mark on the Europan stage where, sadly, we have been lacking for a number of years.

The stage is set, and the fans are turning out in their numbers. It is now over to Brendan and the Bhoys to deliver a Flag Day performance that will be fitting of the occasion a week on Saturday.
