Celtic defender, Osaze Urhoghide has joined French Ligue 2 side Amiens after the club made the announcement on their official website. [Amiens FC]
After losing their best defender, Formose Mendy, to FC Lorient last week, Amiens identified Urhoghide as a replacement and they have moved quickly to sign the defender on a three-year deal.
The 23-year-old defender joined Celtic in the summer of 2021. He made just one appearance for the club in the 3-2 win over Real Betis in the Europa League.

Urhoghide was then shipped out on loan to Belgian side, KV Oostende where he made seven appearances after completing the move in the January window.
After impressing, the Dutch-born defender returned on loan the following season where he made 29 appearances but couldn’t prevent Oostende from being relegated.

Urhoghide’s season was blighted by indiscipline where in the second half of the season suspension meant that he missed two crucial bottom-of-the-table clashes which Oostende lost 4-0 and 5-0 and ultimately led to them dropping into the Belgian second tier.
Clearly, the defender didn’t have a part to play in the coming season under Brendan Rodgers and with Oostende unwilling to take up his loan-to-buy clause the young defender had to find a way out of Celtic to revive his career. And Amiens have offered him that.
Amiens finished 12th in Ligue 2 last season. Flirting with relegation, the French club will be keen to avoid a repeat of the previous season and have clearly identified Urhoghide as the man to help bolster a defence that leaked 52 goals last season. [ESPN]
Here’s hoping this new chapter in his career goes better than it did at Celtic and I am sure the fans will all wish him well in his new venture.
