Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has issued an injury update ahead of the Bhoys’ home game against Ferencvaros.

Postecoglou knows how important Tuesday is if Celtic have any hopes of getting out their Europa League group. With Ferencvaros in fine form, it’ll need to be a strong Hoops squad that’s available to the manager.

Thankfully, that’s exactly what it seems to be. Postecoglou offered an encouraging post-match update on go-to left-back Adam Montgomery, as well as other players who made cameo appearances, or were on the bench for today’s win over Motherwell.

It all sounds positive for the Bhoys.

Postecoglou said to Chic Young of BBC Radio Scotland [17.10]

“We’ll see how everyone pulls up. Adam Montgomery, as I said, missed out today, but he should be available.

“We’ve got a couple more outside who potentially could be available. The good thing as I said today, we got Mikey [Johnston] some time, Giakoumakis came on, Ajeti was fresh.

“So we can rotate the team a little bit.”

Celtic should have plenty of options for Ferencvaros meeting after Ange injury update

With Boli Bolingoli not registered for the Europa League, and Liam Scales not quite in the manager’s reckoning, the Montgomery news is more than welcome in this latest injury update.

Ditto the fitness of Giakoumakis and Ajeti, two players who could make an impact from the bench. Mikey Johnston delighted supporters with his return to action today against Motherwell, taking some pressure of Jota, whose superb form has helped out Celtic to no end.

Although it’ll be a tough tie, at a weird time of the week, there’s reason to be hopeful against the Hungarian side.

Ferencvaros are also winless in the Europa League this campaign. It’ll take at least one win over our Champions League knock-out conquerors from 20-21 to maintain European football beyond Christmas.

Postecoglou has something he didn’t have before though; attacking options. Celtic might be able to name 3 or more actual forwards on the bench against Ferencvaros. That’s not a luxury that’s fallen to us in recent weeks and months.

After another galvanising win today, it’s just the boost Celtic fans were looking for. Bring on the Europa League.
