Celtic have launched a Japanese language Twitter account, as promised shortly after the announcement of Kyogo Furuhashi’s signing at the Bhoys.
The account sits at @CelticFCJPN on the social media website and already has a heavy Furuhashi focus with graphics adoring the header image and debut post.
The first Tweet welcomes Japanese fans to the page and makes it clear there will be regular updates on the attacker’s progress at the Bhoys. The post was retweeted by the main official Celtic account so we know it’s legit.
There will be keen interest from supporters of Vissel Kobe in Furuhashi’s progress. Fans of Yokohama F.Marinos will also be eager to find out how their idol manager Ange Postecoglou is getting on in Scotland.
Furuhashi is due to make his debut for Celtic this week, if not against Hearts then away to FK Jablonec in UEFA Europa League qualifying on Thursday. Yesterday was his last day of quarantine following his exit from Japan.
It seems guaranteed he’ll be a big part of Postecoglou’s starting eleven going forward. The Japanese international is mid-season in terms of fitness, so there is no barrier to him making an immediate impact.
Of course, when players move across the world, there can always be problems with settling into Scotland and the Scottish Premiership.
However, all indications are that Furuhashi has the talent to succeed at the Bhoys.
No doubt if he does, hype about his arrival in European football will only grow in Japan.
In other news, Celtic set to make one or two signings by the end of the coming week.
