Celtic Player of the Year Awards; Kyogo Furuhashi picks up a treble

If there was ever any doubt as to how dominant Celtic have been this season at all levels, the awards ceremony last night will end those.

With Celtic on the brink of a possible world-breaking treble, Ange Postecoglou’s team have been absolutely relentless in their pursuit for domestic dominance.

Fran Alonso’s side are also on course for a first-ever league title and a possible Double. The Celtic B side have also impressed in the Lowland League and delivered silverware with their Glasgow Cup win last week.

All of these achievements were recognised by their fellow professionals and the fans at last night’s awards ceremony. [CelticFC]

Voted as Manager of The Year was Ange Postecoglou. Prior to the weekend, the Celtic manager had only lost once and dropped a total of five points in the league campaign.

With the league and league cup already wrapped up, June 3rd could see Celtic pick up an eighth domestic treble.

Kyogo Furuhashi picked up a treble of awards after an outstanding season for Celtic. The striker won the PFA Player of The Year Award as voted for by his peers. With thirty goals to his name, the Japanese striker also picked up Top Goal Scorer and Celtic’s Player of the Year.

The Goal of the Season goes to Jota for his strike against Rangers back in September. The Portuguese winger latched onto an outstanding through ball by Matt O’Riley and he superbly chipped Alan McGregor from a tight angle. Then came that celebration.

For Celtic Women, Caitlin Hayes won the PFA Player of the Year and Celtic’s Player of the Year. Hayes has been instrumental in keeping Celtic within touching distance of the SWPL title and helping the team reach the Scottish Cup Final.

The defender has scored twelve times for Celtic this season which includes the last-minute goal against Rangers that was overshadowed by the Fran Alonso headbutt.

In a surprising twist, Matt O’Riley and Liel Abada lost out on The PFA Young Player of the Year Award to Rangers’ Malik Tillman. However, O’Riley was voted as Celtic’s Young Player of the Year. O’Riley is one of only two players [Joe Hart] that has featured in all of Celtic’s league games this season. He has scored four goals and created twelve assists.

For the youngsters, Ben Summers won the Celtic Academy Player of the Year and Tom Boyd picked up The Special Recognition Award.
