Celtic thrashed Dundee 6-0 as Brendan Rodgers’ side laid out a marker in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic absolutely battered Dundee as the Bhoys put on a relentless show as Brendan Rodgers gave Jota his Celtic Park debut.

It was clear from the very first minute that Rodgers had told his players to go out and put Dundee to bed early as Jota and Daizen Maeda terrorised the Taysiders’ defence.

Goals from Arne Engels (2), Adam Idah, Daizen Maeda (2) and Nicolas Kuhn battered a shellshocked Dundee into submission to increase Celtic’s lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table to 13 points.

With so many Celtic players putting on a show, here are 67 Hail Hail’s ratings as Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys destroyed Dundee.

Celtic player ratings as the Hoops increase the Rangers gap to 13 points

Kasper Schmeichel – 6

The big ‘keeper didn’t really have much to do such was Celtic’s dominant performance. Made two saves as Schmeichel kept another clean sheet.

Alistair Johnston – 7

The Canadian was absolutely solid at the back and strong in the tackle. Made some excellent passes as Johnston forged a new partnership with Daizen Maeda on the right.

Cameron Carter-Vickers – 7

The big American was solid again and put in a couple of meaty challenges. Was never really challenged as Celtic kept Dundee pegged in their own half for much of the game.

Auston Trusty – 7

One of Trusty’s better performances as he showed strength in the challenge and won a penalty as he attacked the Dundee defence. Will take a lot of confidence from this performance ahead of the Bayern Munich tie.

Greg Taylor – 7

Taylor started on the left flank as usual but had a different partner as Jota was his link-up man. Made some decent probing runs and linked up well with the Portuguese winger.

Reo Hatate – 8

The Japanese midfielder had a great game and was unlucky not to find himself on the scoresheet. Had a few shots on target and passing was on point. The tackling was superb.

Callum McGregor – 8

The Celtic captain put on a very good performance on his 501st appearance for the club. Controlled the midfield which allowed Arne Engels and Reo Hatate to push forward. Was given a standing ovation as he was subbed off in the 62nd minute.

Arne Engels – 9

The Belgian continues to impress as Engels grabs a double as Celtic destroyed Dundee. Set-piece taking was laser-like and was cool, calm and collected with his penalty. His second strike was just sublime.

Jota – 9

The Portuguese winger was clearly in the mood as he set about the Dundee defence from the first whistle. Gave the Dundee right fullback all sorts of problems and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

Daizen Maeda – 9

What can be said about Daizen Maeda that hasn’t already been spoken about? His work rate was off the charts as Maeda chased down every ball. Grabbing a brace, the Japanese second must be a contender for goal of the season.

Adam Idah – 7

Four goals in three games for Idah as the big Irish striker flourishes after the departure of Kyogo. Was quiet in the first 25 minutes of the game but gave the Dundee defence some problems with his physicality.

Nicolas Kuhn (sub) – 7

Replaced Jota in the 61st minute and made some darting runs before scoring an incredible curling effort in the 81st minute. Made an instant impact.

Paulo Bernardo (sub) – 6

The Portuguese replaced Callum McGregor and was solid for thirty minutes he was on the pitch. Looked to probe the Dundee defence and held the midfield nicely.

Jeffrey Schlupp (sub) – 6

Replaced Taylor with 20 minutes to go and looked very comfortable on the ball. Eased into his first appearance in the green and white Hoops and looks very calm and assured.

Johnny Kenny (sub) – 6

The young Irishman made his Celtic Park debut and still managed to get two shots on goal in his short cameo. A good run out and is likely to get more minutes against Raith Rovers on Saturday.

Luke McCowan (sub) – 6

Came on to replace Reo Hatate late on but didn’t get much time to make any real impact on the game.
