Celtic faced Dundee at Parkhead as the Bhoys looked to go 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Brendan Rodgers excited the Celtic fans after his starting XI contained Portuguese hero Jota for the game at Celtic Park.

This game was rescheduled after Storm Eowyn damaged Celtic Park two weeks ago and with Rangers narrowing the gap to ten points, Rodgers will have been keen to get another three points on the board.

But before the game got underway the Celtic manager had another piece of business he had to attend to.

Brendan Rodgers’ touch of class for Celtic captain Callum McGregor

Callum McGregor has reached the magical number of 500 games for Celtic this season.

The Hoops skipper hit the tally in Celtic’s win over Motherwell but the achievement was somewhat overshadowed by Jota’s moment of brilliance at Fir Park.

And just before kickoff, Rodgers did this for his Celtic captain:

McGregor was clearly delighted with the gesture as the skills got the adulation he so deserved.

Callum McGregor’s ‘loudest’ moment ever at Celtic Park

McGregor had seen some extremely memorable moments at Celtic Park over his illustrious career.

The skipper has experienced many great European nights and Glasgow Derby’s over the years.

And here, the Celtic captain shared the ‘loudest’ ever crowd he has ever experienced.

McGregor said, “My first goal in the Champions League group stages came against Bayern, which seems fitting now that we play them next week,” said McGregor.

“An amazing moment, personally to score in the Champions League, it’s the pinnacle of playing football. It’s the highest level. You watch it growing up, years and years, then you are playing in it. To score in it was an unbelievable feeling.

“The atmosphere on the night was incredible. The supporters were right behind the team the whole night. What a moment. The temperature of the game was rising ever so slightly.

“We were on top in that moment in the game and I just find myself ghosting in between a couple of players. James (Forrest) had played an unbelievable pass, which was right into my path and, at moment, I am thinking, ‘just try to hit the target.

“Try and go through the goalkeeper’s legs’, and I managed to do that. It landed in the back of the net. I think everybody still remembers the noise. It’s probably the loudest I have heard Celtic Park. To be part of such a big moment, it was a huge step in my career.”
