Celtic should look to sign Derby County exile Graeme Shinnie in January.
The former Aberdeen star is out of favour with new manager Philip Cocu.
Scottish fans know all about Shinnie’s talents which Celtic are crying out for.
The Bhoys should monitor his situation in order to bring the Scotland international back up the road for game time.
Graeme Shinnie banished to Derby County youths
The 28-year-old joined the Rams in May this year but appears not to be in the plans of the new gaffer.
Shinnie was signed by Frank Lampard before his departure to Chelsea. Now, the Scotland midfielder is being made to train with the Derby County under 23s.
Cocu said: “He wasn’t signed by me, that’s true.
“He is playing with the under-23s. He just has to work a little bit longer with me and with my staff to find the right way to work together.
“I also believe that every player needs the possibility of playing minutes in a team. If you don’t have any prospect of playing, it will be very hard to keep your motivation.”
The last sentence appears to prove that the door might be open for a loan move away from Derby.
However, as he has just joined there is always the chance he could return to the first team but Celtic should be ready to pounce.
Celtic can look for Scott Brown replacement in Shinnie
If Shinnie is getting homesick then Neil Lennon should open the door for him.
Brown is going to be playing less and less games as his legs begin to go.
Shinnie’s drive and energy will excel at Celtic as an ample replacement for the captain.
The Bhoys really should have went for the former Rangers target when he was a free agent.
However, the lure of English football won Shinnie over.
The signing of Shinnie would be a welcome one with the Hoops fans who are looking for a buzzbomb midfielder.
Shinnie would be a fantastic start and a fantastic move for all parties.
