Celtic SLO gives reason for lack of CSC flags at Parkhead; says when club may revisit issue

So far this season, Celtic fans have had to get used to a number of new sights.

From a socially distanced huddle, and outdoor Neil Lennon news conferences, it’s all been a bit bizarre, yet very real at the same time.

However, nothing has got us all used to the sight of 60,000 empty green seats at each and every home game.

It’s an eyesore. A horrible sight. And no amount of canned crowd noise can go mask over the damage that has been done.

One thing that could lessen the visual impact of an empty Paradise would be supporters’ club flags over seats. Lots of Scottish clubs have done this at their ground – and it seems to make a difference.

But Celtic only have advertising around Celtic Park. Why? Well, club SLO John Paul Taylor answered that very question today.

Replying to an enquiring supporter on Twitter, Taylor said: “We hoped we’d have fans back by now.

“Plus the logistics of getting the numbers of people in and out safely to set it up.

“It may be something we look at again when restrictions ease.”

CSC flags can do no harm

It’s impossible to know whether seeing Celtic Supporters’ Club flags would make a difference to the players.

But it can’t do them any disadvantage, so what’s the harm?

Celtic Park is completely lifeless at present, with fans not expected back anytime soon.

Maybe, then, it is time to inject a bit of life into the stadium. Supporters would be the ideal solution. Supporters’ club flags are a compromise.

Hopefully it is something the club do indeed look into as soon as restrictions are eased. Whenever that may be.
