Celtic star Albian Ajeti is certainly working hard to get fit, as shown in an Instagram post that he published on Thursday.

The post showed Ajeti at the Hoops’ Lennoxtown training ground, on an exercise bike.

That social media post should be encouraging for Celtic fans. Ajeti is in a battle to be fit for the Glasgow derby next Saturday, after suffering an injury in the recent win over Hibernian.

Hoops will want player available

With doubts over Odsonne Edouard’s participation in the game then Celtic will want Ajeti to have a chance of playing in the derby.

Of course, that will depend on how he gets on in training over the next week. However, it is a promising sign that the player does seem well on the road to recovery.

It would be even better if he was on the training pitches at Lennoxtown kicking a ball. Obviously he can’t do that at the moment.

Odd situation when it comes to strikers

Celtic are in a bit of an odd situation when it comes to strikers for the Glasgow derby. The one player that we know will be definitely available for the game, Leigh Griffiths, has just returned to action after more than six months out of the game.

Patryk Klimala is on international duty with Poland under-21s. We have to hope that he gets through that without an injury.

Odsonne Edouard is, of course, self-isolating in France. Hopefully he can return to Glasgow the day before the derby. However, his participation in the game is currently up in the air.

That leaves Ajeti, who is trying to overcome the injury. Ajeti has been in excellent form for the Hoops since joining from West Ham, scoring five goals in his short time with the club.

His attacking instinct could make the difference between a draw and a victory in the Glasgow derby. It would be a real boost if he was fit for the game, but only time will tell.

In other news, former Celtic star Didier Agathe has lost his managerial job at Durham City.
