After Celtic’s 3-2 win over Rangers on Saturday, the team head to Kilmarnock this week to take another step towards being officially crowned Champions.

But as the noise from the other side of the city still continues to dominate the headlines, Kyogo Furuhashi is finally getting the recognition he deserves for his part in the Glasgow Derby win at Celtic Park.

The Japanese striker netted a goal in each half as Celtic asserted their dominance over a Rangers side that were looking to take something from Parkhead to keep their slim hopes of a title challenge alive.

Kyogo’s quick thinking and mobility for his first goal and instinctive predatory reactions for the second, led the striker to be named as the Star Man in the SPFL’s Team of the Week.

Kyogo has been in sensational goal-scoring form in the league for Celtic and Saturday’s double took the striker to top of the goalscoring charts in the league with 22 goals in 29 appearances for the club.

Kyogo continues to impress

The 28-year-old scored 20 goals in all competitions last season. When you take into account that he spent over three months out with a hamstring injury, that goal tally looks all the more impressive.

At this moment in time, the Celtic striker is currently at 28 for the season in all competitions.

With a minimum of eight games left (possibly nine if we reach the Scottish Cup final) there is a very real possibility that Kyogo could reach the forty goals before the end of the season.

The last person to reach the forty-goal mark was Leigh Griffiths back in season 2015/16 after his third season at the club.
