At one stage this season Kyogo Furuhashi’s prolific goalscoring at Celtic had him ranking high up in the top ten when it came to the European Golden Boot race.
He may have dropped down a bit in that particular table, but the Bhoys forward is still ahead of some big names including Marcus Rashford, Karim Benzema and Lionel Messi.
Kyogo scored his 21st and 22nd Scottish Premiership goals for Celtic this season at the weekend, with his latest double contributing to yet another victory over rivals Rangers.

Kyogo’s Celtic goalscoring is impressive in any context
The Japanese star now has 28 in all competitions and looks certain to break the 30-goal mark, which hasn’t been done at Celtic since Moussa Dembele was at the club.
His league goals are enough to have him ranked 13th in the Golden Boot table. Goals in the Premiership are weighted as worth 1.5 Golden Boot points, with efforts in the top five leagues providing two.
Of people who play in 1.5-weighted leagues, Kyogo is actually third sitting behind Enner Valencia of Fenerbahce and Amahl Pellegrino of Bodo/Glimt. Only six players have scored more top-flight league goals than the Celtic man across all of Europe this term. [Transfermarkt]
Across all of his 74 Celtic appearances, he’s now scored a healthy 48. Or put another way, a goal every 1.54 matches.
It’s impressive stuff and is no doubt attracting the attention of many scouts across the continent ahead of the summer transfer window. Far from that being something to fear, it’s great news that Kyogo is making such a name for himself.
Hopefully he can continue to bang them in across our final seven league games and the upcoming Scottish Cup semi-final. Given he has scored five goals in his last three derbies, who would bet against him being the hero at Hampden again? Not me, that’s for certain!
