Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has plenty to keep occupied with as the circumstantial realities of potential incomings and outgoings this month become clear.

Starting as they mean to continue, the Bhoys announced that Stephen Welsh has joined KV Mechelen on loan earlier today for the remainder of the campaign.

Dane Murray will fill his place in the squad after returning from a spell of his own at Queens Park after Brendan Rodgers set out his plan after Welsh’s exit last week.

Seemingly, the revolving door is beginning to turn at Parkhead, and plenty of movement is expected between now and the end of the window.

However, there has been one story involving Celtic that has produced more twists and turns than most since the start of the year.

Andy Walker on Celtic pursuit of Kieran Tierney implications

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, former Celtic man Andy Walker believes Greg Taylor has been ‘great value for money’ while on the books at Parkhead.

Nevertheless, with rumours swirling that Taylor could make way for Kieran Tierney unless he agrees a contract extension, he doesn’t think the former Kilmarnock man would stick around as a back-up left-back.

He stated, firstly when asked by a caller on Taylor’s intentions: “I’ve no idea what his intentions are. I can only say that over the last number of years, I’ve really enjoyed what he’s done for Celtic. I think at times, I think he’s underrated.

“I know he’s got experience in his early career of playing in midfield, and I think you can see that in his game. The amount of times where I see him play killer passes, I think he’s been absolutely terrific. Great value for money.

Later, Walker addressed whether Taylor would be willing to stick around if Tierney joins from Arsenal: “No, I don’t. he’s played regular Champions League football. He’s an international player. He played at a high level.

He’s consistently high. Maybe I would say Kieran Tierney is a better defender. So if that’s what Celtic are looking for, absolutely, as a club, you try and get better in every position.”

Celtic know what they have to pay to keep Greg Taylor

Links have done the rounds involving Taylor leaving Celtic for the last few months, but supporters are still no closer to knowing whether he will stick around.

According to reports, the Scotland international wants £25,000 per week to pen new terms at the Bhoys. Will that sort of pay packet be forthcoming? Truthfully, it is hard to tell.

Taylor is now on to 200 appearances at Celtic after his involvement against Dundee United during the week. Time is of the essence to sort out his future before it is too late.
