Luke McCowan’s comments after Celtic beat Stuttgart appear to have rattled Rangers boss Danny Rohl ahead of Sunday’s Glasgow Derby.

Celtic beat Stuttgart to record their first-ever win in Rohl’s homeland, and as the Glasgow Derby approaches, the Rangers boss took in his pre-match press conference.

And after McCowan’s Celtic comments post Stuttgart win, it appears that whatever the Hoops midfielder said has rattled Rohl this morning.

Rohl told the pre-match press conference, “Yeah, I think at the moment, they’re in the second position behind us. At the moment, seven or eight defeats,.

“Yeah, I think in general it makes no sense to speak too much about the other side.

The big one… Give us your predicitions for the Glasgow derby

“We have to focus on ourselves. I was a little bit surprised, after 1-0 that they’re not trying to win this game, two or three nil, to have a chance.

“They keep the result until the end. But yeah, we’ll be interesting as well, with the goalkeeper position, what he’s doing now, let’s see.”

So what exactly did Luke McCowan say to spark such a response from the Rangers boss?

How Luke McCowan’s Celtic comments leave Rohl feeling slightly foolish

Speaking post-match, McCowan was delighted with the Celtic win in Stuttgart and said that the Parkhead club have proved that when they are at their best, no one can touch them.

McCowan told Superscoreboard, “I think it’s just putting on a good performance to lead to a good result.

“We know if we’re at it, no team in that league touches us.

“We need to have that mentality going in and as Celtic players we need to know we are champions still until we have lost it.

“Right now, we haven’t lost it and until then we need to have that mentality.”

The reporter who asked the question set Rohl up for this without adding the all-important context, and it seems that the Rangers boss, embarrassingly, fell for it.
