Celtic interim manager John Kennedy has called on Odsonne Edouard to be more clinical and ruthless in front of goal ahead of the upcoming Scottish Cup debry against Rangers.
Edouard wasn’t on the scoresheet for the Bhoys yesterday in the 6-0 rout of Livingston, but he was heavily involved in much of Celtic’s positive attacking play.
It was his deft assist that allowed James Forrest to score in the first half.
Kennedy is obviously a huge fan, but reckons he can still take his game to the next level.
The interim boss is hoping he can find a ruthless edge against Rangers at Ibrox.
As quoted by The Glasgow Times, he said: “I absolutely love Odsonne in terms of what he gives to the team. The only thing he has really been lacking in the last period is that clinical edge and we have spoken about that.
“I have worked with many a striker and in terms of the level he can go to, he can go the very top. But he is still young, he is still developing and working. He just needs to add that clinical edge.
“You see Benzema and Lewandowski, all the top guys, they are ruthless. So that is the next step for Odsonne. It would be very nice to be able to do that in the next game.”
Celtic need Odsonne Edouard on top form against Rangers
Edouard will be one of Celtic’s most important players at Ibrox when the cup tie takes place. But Kennedy is right, we do need him to have his shooting boots on for that one.
The Frenchman was a little wasteful yesterday. With more than 20 goals this season it’s not as if he’s had a stinker, but with just one effort since February, it would be nice to see him hit a purple patch for our Scottish Cup run.

A last flurry of goalscoring will raise the hype levels heading into the summer, allowing Celtic to land a bigger fee and Edouard find the best move possible.
Most importantly from our perspective as fans, we’ll have a meaningful derby win to celebrate.
Give us one final run Eddy!
