The Glasgow goldfish bowl is unlike no other in football.
Celtic and Rangers players meeting up for lunch or coffee? Naturally, some fans will question it and others will say it’s downright wrong.
But for Kasper Schmeichel and Peter Lovenkrands, both Celtic and Rangers heroes respectively, it makes a lot more sense.
Of course, Schmeichel and Lovenkrands are both Danish and understand exactly what it’s like to live in Glasgow playing for the Hoops and the Light Blues.

Kasper Schmeichel and Lovenkrands are the best of mates
Schmeichel has revealed that he meets up with Lovenkrands on an almost daily basis because the pair live next door to each other.
The goalkeeper moved to Glasgow in the summer of 2024 and pitched up beside Lovenkrands to settle in. Now they are best mates, as they explained on TV 2 Sport.
Schmeichel said: “The friendship has blossomed again during this period, and now I’ve almost moved in. We see each other at least five times a week. If not several times in some weeks.
Lovenkrands then added: “My wife and I have also made a rule that when we go out to eat, we always book a table for three. Then I text him if he’s coming, and usually within an hour he’s there.
“There were some who had to understand it when we were out to eat at the beginning. For example, there was someone who came over and asked what we were doing together.
Schmeichel: “That’s perhaps a slightly nicer way of saying it than he did.
“I had to change my car because it was blue (after signing for Celtic). Until you experience it, you don’t understand it. It’s life and death. It means everything and it’s the only thing people talk about.
“If you’re out shopping or filling up on petrol, it’s Celtic, Rangers, Celtic, Rangers. I don’t think you can understand it until you’ve experienced the passion in one of the stadiums over here.”
Lovenkrands delivered Celtic the ultimate pain in 2002
There’s no doubting the fact that every time Celtic fans see Lovenkrands on the TV or in the streets of Glasgow, painful flashbacks race their minds.
The forward sunk Celtic in the 2002 Scottish Cup final for Rangers as he netted a 90th minute winner to secure the trophy.
Celtic and Rangers were locked at 2-2 until Lovenkrands’ heartbreaking strike sent Hoops fans home in utter despair.
That final was the last time Celtic and Rangers met in a Scottish Cup final until 2024 when Adam Idah returned the favour with a late winner at Hampden Park.
