Celtic fans won’t forget the 2025 summer transfer deadline day in a hurry.
It was a disastrous day that saw Adam Idah sold for £7m to Swansea City, but Celtic failed to replace him before the 11pm deadline.
In the end, the Hoops had to scour the free agent market on Tuesday onwards and signed Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year deal.
Yang Hyun-jun was also supposed to exit on Monday, with a £3m switch south to Birmingham City on the verge of completion.
But at the eleventh hour, Birmingham relinquished their pursuit with Celtic refusing to give the green light quickly enough.

Dalziel stunned that Celtic didn’t sell Yang to Birmingham City
Open Goal pundit Gordon Dalziel cannot believe that Celtic were offered £3m for Yang but did not finalise a move.
Yang appeared keen on leaving the Hoops for the EFL Championship, but the Hoops were unsure if they would be able to replace him.
In the end, they did with Sebastian Tounekti, which makes the ordeal even more embarrassing for the club’s board.
Dalziel said: “That undermines the manager right away, right? So the manager is sitting there going: ‘Right, he’s (Adam Idah) not leaving until a striker comes in.’ He’s sold. He’s away. If you want him out the door, you’ve got to take the money.
“But have a look at the situation with Yang. He was at Birmingham. They were getting £3m for him, three million quid! And because they’ve not fulfilled positions, they brought him back.
“So people go: ‘Oh well, Adam’s head must have been all over the place’. How is Yang feeling? Because Yang wanted to go to Birmingham. He wanted out of Celtic and wanted to go there.
“Idah wants to go to Swansea, but you bring one back and you leave the other one… it’s bizarre. And I thought £3m for Yang would have been (good).”
Celtic fans are fuming as board sent open letter
In response to the shambolic deadline day that saw Yang travelling down to Birmingham before being recalled to Glasgow, Celtic fans united.
Fan media and groups came together as one to sign an open letter that asked seven key questions of the Celtic board.
It was reported on Thursday that CEO Michael Nicholson is ‘aware’ of the letter signed by hundreds of fan groups and organisations.
However, as of Friday morning, the silence remains deafening. It remains to be seen when, or even if, a member of the Celtic board responds in any way to the letter’s questions.
