Finally, the season is up and running and the Celtic supporters can got to see their heroes in the flesh. After what seems like an age since the Scottish Cup Final, it’s great to get the defence of the league underway.
With Celtic defeating Ross County 4-2 at Paradise yesterday, we saw how Brendan Rodgers intends to set the team up and got a good view of the style of play we will be treated to over the next tenth months or so.
For the fans, it was back to business as usual. For the players, they will just be glad to get going under the new manager with a win at home and it showed as they all took to Instagram last night to celebrate the first three points of the new campaign.
Anthony Ralston posted, “Season underway! Good win, onto the next.”
A slow start but a convincing Celtic win in the end
It wasn’t the full-throttle, swashbuckling style of football we had become accustomed to under Ange Postecoglou but there were plenty of positives to take from yesterday’s win.
And after what can only be called a slow start against The Staggies, Brendan Rodgers‘ men finally kicked into gear and saw off the plucky challenge from the Highland club.
David Turnbull carried on his impressive preseason form with a double and Kyogo Furuhashi now has a different role to play by dropping in deeper to cause more problems for the opposition defences.
It was also great to see Anthony Ralston back in the team. The full-back equipped himself fairly well but was a wee bit rusty as he had no preseason football. He, as always, will come good.
However, it’s great to get the season underway. It’s great to see a packed Celtic Park again. But most of all, it’s great to get three points on the board and sit proudly, again, at the top of the table.
