When Celtic signed Hyeongyu Oh, we didn’t know what we were going to get.

At just 21 years old and coming from the Korean league, this was a transfer that was very much in the ‘In Ange we trust’ category.

Signed as a direct replacement for Giorgos Giakoumakis, Oh, in fairness to him, has done a pretty decent job in front of goal considering his limited time on the pitch.

Three goals thus far in the league is pretty decent going.

Plus, he has also shown himself to be very mobile around the pitch and more than just a penalty box striker in comparison to Giakoumakis.

His goal that was ruled offside by VAR is a testament to the talent that he has bubbling under the surface and it is down to Ange to develop the already raw talent we have seen since he signed for the club in January.

But just how highly regarded is the Celtic striker in his own country?

The report by Korean outlet, The Fact said of Oh, “In particular, Lee Kang-in and Hyeongyu Oh drew attention because, despite the general assessment of the future of Korean football, they showed the potential to maximize their abilities at Klinsmann after being considered strangers under coach Paulo Bento.

Has Ange Postecoglou unearthed Celtic another transfer gem?

Going by how widely regarded he is in Korea, you would certainly hope so.

Oh is already a fans favourite at the club and you just can’t help but think that with more game time he has the potential to become a real class act at the club.

But at Celtic, to be the best, you must compete with the best and in Kyogo Furuhashi, Oh has the perfect challenge in front of him that should help take his talent to the next level.
