I am pleased to announce that today is Ronny Deila Propaganda Day. At least it is in this Celtic supporting house.

It’s a joy to look across the Atlantic and see Deila thriving in Major League Soccer with his New York City FC side. It was just a couple of months ago he was under pressure at the club and now he’s made history.

Deila has taken his team to the MLS Cup final, having won an exciting Eastern Conference final last night away to Philadelphia Union. Kings of the East, Deila’s will now face Portland Timbers for the top honour in American ‘soccer’. And look at the scenes in the City dressing room after the victory.

Deila was a popular figure at Celtic despite it becoming apparent he had taken the club as far as he could in 2016. He won two league titles in Glasgow as part of a sensational nine-in-a-row.

Although results in cup competitions and Europe were mixed, he deployed an exciting brand of football and set the stage for a number of young talents coming through to go on and becoming Invincibles.

Even Brendan Rodgers paid tribute to him for laying the groundwork for unprecedented success.

In short, he’s a good manager. It’s pleasing to see him go on and do well elsewhere. He’s on the brink of winning his third title in the three countries he’s managed in. That wouldn’t be a bad record at all and could see him land a bigger gig elsewhere.

City take on Timbers at 8 pm UK time this coming Saturday. The match will be broadcast on Sky Sports Football and Main Event too, so there’s no excuse not to tune in and cheer Ronny on.

For now, supporters were just delighted to see the scenes in the dressing room, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts over the last 24 hours…
