Celtic may have to end up shelling out £1m-plus for Japanese utility man Reo Hatate, The Scottish Sun reported over the weekend.
Speculation is rife regarding a potential move for Hatate, with Sky Sports reporting today that the player is set for a meeting with his club Kawasaki Frontale this week to discuss the switch.
Sky also report his contract expires in February. However, with Ange Postecoglou stating his intentions are to add early in the transfer window, Celtic would have to strike an agreement with the Japanese side.

A fee of £1m sounds steep with less than a month left on a contract.
However, speculating, that could include all sorts of add-on fees or performance bonuses that make sense for Frontale, Celtic and Hatate.
It’s of the utmost importance that any new signings are given as much of a chance as possible to integrate themselves into Postecoglou’s squad for the remainder of the season.
With warm weather training planned for January, getting him in the country as quickly as possible is ultimately worth the money to Celtic. Hatate could be a difference-maker for the club this term, which Champions League cash on the line.
Regardless of the exact amount of money Hatate costs, as a fan I hope it’s all sorted sooner rather than later. We know these things have the potential to drag on at Celtic. But Ange must be backed.
