Celtic supporters are loving how Ange Postecoglou is handling the Scottish media
Ange Postecoglou is rapidly becoming a Celtic fan favourite and much of it is to do with the way he’s brushing off difficult questions from the Scottish media.
Listen, I’m not here to slaughter the Scottish press with this article. There’s been a lot of toing and froing between ‘fan media’ and the established press in recent weeks. I’ve had my say on that already. At 67 Hail Hail, we’re not at war with any other outlets, Celtic fans or otherwise.
Still, you can’t help but raise a smile when Postecoglou hits back with one-liners to clearly leading questions.
So it was this week in the wake of the 1-1 draw against FC Midtjylland at Celtic Park.
As reported by The Glasgow Times, he was asked if he had concerns about the finances at Celtic should they eventually go out of Champions League qualifying.
The response from Postecoglou was brilliant: “I’m not an accountant mate. I’m a football manager.

“When people start talking to me about finances they miss the essence of what I’m about.
“I’m not interested. I want to win games, I want to win trophies, I want to bring special nights to here. The finances are for other people.”
Celtic supporters are loving Postecoglou attitude
The quote is now going far and wide. I shared the first part on Twitter last night and it’s gone a bit ‘viral’. It’s also hitting Reddit groups and Australian Facebook pages as the quintessential Ange quote. You can’t read that ‘mate’ in anything but an Australian accent.
He’s going to need this thick skin and deft touch for a quip during his time at Celtic. There’s no doubt about that. It’s a high-pressure job with big questions on a daily basis.
However, he looks up for it, doesn’t he? He hasn’t been fazed in the slightest so far, despite the situation at Celtic being pretty grim in terms of squad numbers.
There’s lots more to come from him too, I’m sure.
For now, Celtic fans are buoyed by what they’re hearing from the manager.
