It’s been a tense few days between Celtic’s supporters and the hierarchy.

Celtic fans blasted the board’s statement after they defended the way the transfer window went.

The Hoops missed out on a number of targets while also losing Adam Idah to Swansea City on deadline day, only to be replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho.

A series of risks were taken by Celtic in the transfer window and in their latest update, the Celtic Supporters’ Association have made their feelings on the owners very clear.

Celtic Supporters’ Association issue no confidence vote in the board

In a bid to ease the atmosphere and work towards an agreement, the Celtic Supporters’ Association met with Michael Nicholson to determine the next steps.

However, in a damning statement released on Sunday, the CSA clearly didn’t think that there was any chance to move forward and issued a vote of no confidence in the board.

It read: “Following on from our meeting on Friday with Michael Nicholson and other representatives of Celtic Football Club, we convened a meeting today of our member branches to give a report on the aforementioned meeting.

“The member branches were dissatisfied with the answers to our questions, and as a consequence have decided to place a vote of no confidence on the Board of Celtic Football Club.”

What will the next steps be?

It’s more than likely that a series of protests will take place in the coming weeks and months, whether that be through chants or even a boycott at Celtic Park.

Supporters have long made their feelings clear but an issue of no confidence in the board means that it will almost certainly accelerate.

As for Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic side, they will be expected to harmonise everyone together and return to their best ahead of the Europa League starting, as well as a busy domestic calendar.
