To say Celtic fans have embraced Kyogo Furuhashi would be the understatement of the year.
The 26-year-old, brought in from Vissel Kobe, has become an instant hit. Last night, Japanese flags could be seen in the Paradise crowd, and plenty of fans already have his name on the back of their shirts.
With 4 goals in just 3 games for Celtic [Transfermarkt], the diminutive forward’s movement, finishing and work-rate have been heralded across Scotland. For supporters in Japan, the signing of Kyogo has led to engagement comparable with Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Given his high stock, Kyogo doesn’t need to do an awful lot to excite supporters. Seemingly enjoying a day off, the Japan international took to the streets of Glasgow to get to know his new home.
At 26, Celtic is Kyogo Furuhashi’s first non-Japanese club. Coming into what ought to be his prime, the forward looks to have been an excellent signing by J-League winner Ange Postecoglou.
It doesn’t seem to just be Celtic fans who are impressed. The SPFL named him their star man for the week’s fixtures. Not only that, even ex-Rangers players are lining up to give their plaudits.
So, Kyogo’s only job for today, then, is to explore his new surroundings. And, it seems, to look extremely cool while doing so.
The man just cannot be stopped.
