Celtic supporters make a strong ticket sales statement ahead of Euro tie

Celtic only have a limited amount of tickets available for the upcoming UEFA Europa Conference League tie against Bodo/Glimt at Celtic Park.

We’re just a week away from the visit of the Norwegian champions in the first knockout round of UEFA’s new third-tier tournament.

It’d be easy to disregard this competition. Introduced by UEFA as a parachute tournament to appease mid-sized clubs disgruntled with the increasing absurdity of the Champions League, it doesn’t exactly scream romance.

However, it seems that Celtic fans are definitely up for the fight, taking a look at the club’s ticketing website today.

Tickets are selling well for Celtic vs Bodo/Glimt

The North Stand Lower, Lisbon Lions Lower and Main Stand are all virtually sold out. In the upper tiers, two tickets together are hard to come by, with the majority of tickets available in single seats.

In the final week, there should be increased attention on the match too, with a general sale ongoing.

The stadium may not sell out, but the club will now be expecting a healthy crowd north of 50,000 – which is probably going to be one of the biggest gatherings in European competition over the coming week and certainly in the Conference League.

There’s been a bit of chatter ahead of this European campaign that Celtic shouldn’t take it very seriously amid a fiery title race with Champions League riches on the line.

However, I do think the Celtic fans are showing this tournament has some value to them. If the supporters care, the team and Ange Postecoglou have to care too.

If this was a 20,000 or 30,000 crowd situation – as we’ve seen even in the Europa League in some years gone by – then you could make the argument for Postecoglou to disregard it somewhat.

With tickets priced at £35 a pop for adults, supporters have answered the call and now we’ll be expecting a show against the Norwegians.
