Borna Barisic requires the help and support of his teammates after his Celtic Park humiliation, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has told reporters this week.
Barisic was left out of the starting line-up against both Hearts and Hibs after being substituted off at half-time at Paradise.
Liel Abada terrorised the Rangers left-back. The Israeli winger left the defender badly exposed for Celtic’s third goal in a 3-0 win in particular.
Van Bronckhorst makes revealing comments about Celtic vs Rangers
Barisic did return to action last night, but only after an injury forced Van Bronckhorst into using him. Now the Rangers boss has admitted the Croatian is struggling.
He told The Scotsman: “For Borna, it was a difficult game. Those are moments that will happen in your career.
“The only thing we need to do is make sure we give him confidence, we help him. It is not easy. You see when he came on against Hibs, he had to come on at a split-second, which is always hard without a warm-up.
“As the game progressed, he started to get in the game better. He is one of our players and we support him – not only me but the other players. We support him to get the performances which he needs.”

No harm to Barisic, but it is pleasing to hear that Celtic have had such an effect on their squad. It just goes to show that the consequences from this derby go beyond a simple three points.
Barisic is a Croatian international. He has the experience and has played in some big games before. That Ange Postecoglou’s side have made him crumble tells a story.
The Scotsman reports he was shaky coming off the bench against Hibs, with the Ibrox crowd on his back.
Abada has done a number on this guy and probably can’t wait to face him again in the next derby. Bring it on.
