Celtic supporters still searching for a Scottish Cup Final ticket may not be out of luck just yet.

Dunfermline Athletic confirmed this week that around 2,000 tickets from their allocation for Saturday’s Hampden showdown against Celtic remain unsold.

That will immediately spark discussion among Celtic fans who missed out during the club’s heavily oversubscribed ballot process.

Should Celtic hire Jens Berthel Askou as the next manager?

Celtic demand for Scottish Cup final has already exceeded supply

There was huge demand for Scottish Cup tickets from the Celtic support long before Dunfermline’s sales update emerged.

Thousands of supporters on the Home Cup Ticket Scheme missed out, while the club also opened a hospitality waiting list because of overwhelming interest.

That is why many supporters immediately began wondering whether any returned briefs could eventually make their way back to Celtic fans.

There has been no official confirmation from the SFA on redistribution plans for this final, but there is precedent for it at Hampden.

There is previous Hampden precedent for redistribution

In recent years, unused allocations involving clubs like Inverness Caley Thistle and St Mirren have eventually been redistributed to Celtic supporters once sales windows closed.

That does not guarantee the same outcome this time because segregation arrangements can complicate matters, especially so close to the match.

Still, the possibility will give plenty of Celtic supporters hope over the next few days.

To be fair to Dunfermline, taking close to 15,000 supporters to Hampden remains a huge effort for a Championship club. Neil Lennon himself described the cup run as a “huge shot in the arm” for the city and supporters.

But if any seats do become available, there is little doubt Celtic fans would snap them up instantly.
