Celtic have submitted a bid for versatile LAFC star Mateusz Bogusz as Brendan Rodgers looks to seal some late arrivals.
The 23-year-old has been in brilliant form this season, registering 17 goals and seven assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
It is unknown the figure behind Celtic’s attempt to land Bogusz. However, LAFC are believed to want a fee in the region of £8 million for the former Leeds United man, who can play as an attacking midfielder, striker or out wide.
With Matt O’Riley’s departure confirmed over the weekend, the Bhoys are in the process of firming up their advances for potential replacements.
Bogusz is firmly in the mix to be one of them and he has now received a reward for his exploits this term Stateside.
Mateusz Bogusz could feature against Scotland
Earlier today, Bogusz earned his maiden call-up to the Poland national team for their Nations League double-header against Scotland and Croatia.
Michal Probierz has drafted him into the squad, something which 67 Hail Hail told was a strong possibility last week.
He could be set to feature at Hampden Park next Thursday when Scotland take on Poland. Should he move to Celtic, the clash may offer an early indication of what he could bring to Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Of course, that hangs in the balance for now. Bogusz is a key target for Celtic, but there is no point in assuming anything until contracts are signed and he actually arrives in Glasgow; transfer stories can change swiftly.
However, let’s hope the Bhoys can get a deal finalised to bring Bogusz to the club. Acquiring the LAFC man and Augsburg’s Arne Engels would be a real statement of intent to round off the summer.
