As Brendan Rodgers prepares for life without Matt O’Riley, Celtic have made moves to replace the Dane with an official move for Mateusz Bogusz.

67 Hail Hail discussed last week how Celtic was in talks to sign the Polish midfielder with a fee between £6-£8m being mooted as enough to land the MLS star.

However, it became apparent that LAFC was looking for a top-end valuation as they placed an £8m fee on the 23-year-old’s head.

Not to be discouraged, Celtic re-opened negotiations for Bogusz yesterday as the former Poland U21 international was playing in the Leagues Cup on Sunday in which Bogusz unfortunately lost 3-1 to Columbus Crew after creating an assist for the MLS side.

Celtic negotiations with LAFC ‘ongoing’

According to Anthony Joseph on Sky Sports, Celtic entered into negotiations with LAFC yesterday and have now made a ‘formal bid’ to land Bogusz.

The size of the bid is unknown but Joseph has reiterated that Celtic are looking to bring in two midfielders before Friday’s transfer deadline day.

Matt O’Riley officially joined Brighton yesterday and the former Celtic midfielder spoke of the ’emotional’ impact the months of speculation surrounding his future had on him.

But now his £30m move has been finalised, Brendan Rodgers will need to move quickly to find the players he believes can step in for the former Celtic hero.

Celtic proved that there is life after O’Riley with a 3-1 thrashing of St Mirren at the weekend and whilst Rodgers has a team that is good enough to take care of the domestic competition, facing the cream of Europe in the Champions League will be a whole different ball game.

With just under four days left of the summer window, there is time to get deals done but with Celtic needing reinforcements in at least four key positions, the club have a lot of work to be getting on with to ensure they are ready to do battle on all fronts this season.
