Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is content with new signing Hyeongyu Oh’s progression in training and has told reporters if he doesn’t get a debut against Dundee United, he definitely will at home to Livingston on Wednesday.
The Bhoys are entering a busy slate of matches after some midweek rest and the manager will be using a fair chunk of his squad over the next three games.
Acknowledging that Oh hasn’t played much football recently, the Celtic manager is nonetheless ready to give the South Korean international an opportunity to impress sooner rather than later.
In a broadcast media conference yesterday Postecoglou was more cautious about giving an exact debut timeline, but providing quotes to the written press, published overnight, said the striker will be playing in some capacity over the next few days.
As reported by The Herald, the Bhoys boss stated: “He’s had three sessions now and there’s one on Saturday. He was in pre-season training and had been doing it for three weeks, so, physically, he’s in decent shape.
“He obviously hasn’t played since November, so match fitness wise, he’s out a bit. It’s been a big week for him with the travel physically and emotionally.
“It’s one I’ll assess. I’m keen to get him involved as quickly as possible, but if it is not this weekend, it’ll definitely be midweek. I’ll see how he is going, but in terms of doing the training, he’s been fine.”
Elsewhere, the Celtic match squad is bolstered by the return of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor from injury, both of whom have been in Lennoxtown training all week.
However, Anthony Ralston remains an absentee and is rehabbing alone away from the main group. He is expected back in training over the next week, all going well.
