Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has named his team for today’s friendly at home to West Ham United, per the official website.

The full match squad is:

Starting XI – Barkas, Ralston, Murray, Welsh, Taylor, Soro, McGregor, Turnbull, Christie, Abada, Edouard.

Substitutes – Bain, Doohan, Bitton, Griffiths, Ajeti, Rogic, Bolingoli, Urhoghide, Connell, Shaw, Robertson, Forrest, Henderson, Montgomery, Hjelde.

Today’s match doesn’t have much meaning of course. However, it is a fantastic opportunity for 18,500 fans to see the Bhoys in action. Many of them won’t have been to a game since March 2020. That in itself gives this game a bit of buzz.

It’ll be a tough match as the Hammers ramp up their pre-season preparations. Celtic, as we know, are already in the thick of competitive action.

Today’s team selection looks suspiciously close to what Postecoglou will go with away from home on Wednesday night in Denmark. The manager is clearly looking for more match practice from the unit, which includes young defensive pairing Dane Murray and Stephen Welsh.

There’s a big bench full of talent too, so expect to see a lot of changes throughout the fixture.

Broadcast details

Today’s match is being broadcast on the Pass To Paradise service for Celtic season ticket holders.

The game is also available for subscribers to Celtic TV.

If those options aren’t suitable, the game is also being broadcast on the subscription channel Premier Sports 1.

Fan reaction to Celtic team vs West Ham

Fans seem a bit surprised that Postecoglou has played a full-strength line-up. However, you can see the logic. This is a team still learning his ways and getting at least a half, or 60 minutes, on the pitch against a Premier League outfit could be very useful.

There’s excitement about the decision to start Liel Abada, while those still backing Vasilis Barkas are happy to see the manager has kept faith in him.

In other news, Iniesta’s latest on Furuhashi should delight Celtic fans.
