Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan has incredibly been named Inter Miami’s MVP for the season.
Morgan produced five goals and five assists in his first MLS campaign this season (Transfermarkt). This was Inter’s debut year as a franchise club as they managed to make an MLS playoff spot.
Morgan has been absolutely central to that. The former Celtic man has played upwards of 70 minutes in every single game for them this season. And that’s absolutely massive considering how much he struggled in Glasgow after being brought to the club by Brendan Rodgers.
Morgan was used regularly by Neil Lennon in the first half of last season. However, after a series of struggling performances, he was allowed to depart for the USA.
Inter Miami, owned by David Beckham, has splashed out on some big names including Gonzalo Higuain, who Morgan now regularly plays alongside.
A massive career boost for the former Celtic man
Morgan has been giving his reaction to the award, and it’s fair to say that he’s delighted.
As quoted by the Miami Herald, Morgan said: “It’s a great honor to be the first Inter Miami MVP. This accomplishment is actually something I kind of targeted. It’s important to set high standards for yourself and it’s something I aimed for.
“I had a year under my belt to adapt to the league and the surrounding things that come with that, including the pandemic, and I feel going into next year I’m ready to explode onto the scene and show a better version of what the fans got to see last year.”

Morgan needed this. It was a bit of an eyebrow-raiser to see him ditch a move to Europe or England for the USA. After all, it’s not exactly an environment known for reigniting young careers. But Morgan has managed to turn it into that via his performances.
The Daily Mail has reported this week that he’s attracting interest from England and France. Therefore, there’s a massive opportunity there for Morgan to make a name for himself in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Who would’ve thought that when he was discarded from Parkhead just under a year ago?
In other news, Celtic have found just the man to be their Ibrox ball-winner.
