Celtic urged to seal summer transfer which represents ‘good business’

Celtic have been told to spend £5m this summer on a striker who would guarantee 20 goals a season.

Brendan Rodgers knows that he has a lot of work to do to strengthen the Celtic squad in some key areas in the summer and if recent reports are to be believed, the Hoops boss is already putting plans in place to do just that.

Reports this morning claimed that Liam Kelly is on Celtic’s radar and earlier this week we discussed the possibility of Queens Park Rangers defender, Jake Clarke-Salter, joining the club in the summer.

But there is one player that Craige Moore believes Celtic must go and sign in the summer as he will guarantee at least 20 goals per season.

Celtic must spend £5m on Adam Idah

Adam Idah has been an excellent loan signing for Celtic this season. Many would rightly argue that some of the goals he has scored has kept Brendan Rodgers in this title race.

His double against Hibs was particularly important as two last-minute penalties saved Celtic from picking up another defeat on the road.

And with a £5m price tag being mooted as enough to make his temporary move permanent, Moore believes it’s a no-brainer for Celtic to get this signing done.

Moore said [Go Radio Football Show], “I think it would be good business. The age for me is a huge plus in terms of a player coming in. And you know he is going to score.

“With a full season, he’ll score 20-plus goals. For £5m it’s still expensive, but it’s pretty good for a striker that you know is going to score that amount of goals.

“And he’s at an age where it certainly suits Celtic’s model. And they’ve been hugely successful at similar types of deals and business.

“So I think he would be a positive signing and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.”

Described as ‘powerful‘ by former Celtic hero, John Hartson and a striker that Rodgers admits he is ‘excited’ by, Idah has done more than enough to state his case for a permanent move to Paradise.

But whether Brendan Rodgers has a mind to do that or stick with Hyeongyu Oh as his backup striker remains to be seen.

Whatever the decision, £5m considering what Celtic have in the bank is not a lot of money these days for a striker and as Idah has already shown, he knows where the back of the net is so it would make sense for Celtic to make further enquiries this summer.
