Celtic’s hunt for a permanent manager is just as important as the search for new players in the transfer window.

With Martin O’Neill meeting with Celtic’s top-brass to find new players, Michael Nicholson & Co surely must be looking at what happens beyond the end of this season.

Because O’Neill will leave Celtic. There are no two ways about it. And when that day comes, the Parkhead board had better be more organised for that day than they appear to be now.

The Celtic board have been accused of lacking organisation by Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph.

So maybe it’s just as well Peter Martin is giving them a hint of who they should appoint as the new manager when O’Neill departs at the end of this season.

Martin says Jens Berthel Askou is perfect for Celtic manager’s job

Jens Berthel Askou has taken Scottish football by storm as Motherwell sit fourth in the Scottish Premiership table.

With less than four months to go until the end of the season, Martin is amazed Celtic have not made their move for the Fir Park boss.

Martin said on PLZ Soccer, “It’s a big call who they get next. And again, and I make no bones about it, if you look at the type of managers that can make a difference to them, we’ve already mentioned Stephen Robinson, whether that floats Aberdeen fans’ boats or not, I don’t know.

“But you only have to look at what Jens Berthel Askou is doing at Motherwell.

“I think he’d be a great shout for them. I think he’d be a great shout as a Celtic manager. I can’t believe they didn’t actually go and get him immediately.

“So they’re going to have to come up with someone that is able to get a trick out of these players.

“And obviously, it’s someone that when he comes in, if he comes in before the window closes, he’s inheriting the squad, he’s not building it.”
