Martin O’Neill has been told to immediately recall Celtic loan star Maik Nawrocki.
Nawrocki is currently out on loan at Hannover 96 in the second-tier German Bundesliga after being discarded by former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.
The big Pole made 18 appearances for Celtic and, in fairness to the defender, he did put in some very good performances. Notably against Rangers in the 3-2 Celtic Park defeat.
However, Nawrocki did nothing to convince Rodgers that he should have been part of Celtic’s plans this season and is now struggling in Germany with Hannover.
But it appears that the Polish defender has had a ringing endorsement from Celtic hero Frank McAvannie as he urges Martin O’Neill to recall Nawrocki immediately.

Frank McAvennie urges Celtic to recall Maik Nawrocki
McAvennie appeared perplexed at why Celtic allowed Nawrocki to leave as he pointed out how the Polish defender hardly let the club down when called upon.
McAvennie said on the Let Me Be Frank, “I know it’s Celtic, but we’re talking about it, but he’s got a boy out on loan and I think he should bring him straight back.
“The guy called Nawrocki, he got eight games for Celtic and he never put a foot wrong, and for some reason Brendan didn’t like him.
“Because he had two right-footers and he wouldn’t let he wouldn’t put him in because he didn’t want to, all this kind of nonsense and he put the boy on loan, and he’s a Polish international the boy.”
Tony Cottee hopes the Celtic coaching staff will tell O’Neill about Maik Nawrocki
Nawrocki also got the backing from a surprise admirer in West Ham legend Tony Cottee.
The former striker was a close teammate of McAvennie as he hopes the Celtic coaching staff will keep O’Neill in the loop about the Polish stopper.
Cottee added, “I think, unfortunately for him, players don’t get on with managers sometimes, a little fall out with the manager and then he doesn’t like you and all of a sudden you’re chucked out on loan somewhere.
“I don’t know, but I’m guessing that Martin, although he probably would have kept an eye on Celtic, he won’t know the ins and outs.
“He’ll be relying, as I say, on the coaching staff and they possibly will be turning around saying, ‘Hold on a sec. We got a lad who’s out on loan. Let’s get him back and have a look at him. We might be able to fit him into the team.’
“So, you know, if you’ve got assets, you’ve got to use your assets.”
Under contract at Celtic until May 2028, there is still time for Nawrocki to save his Parkhead career.
Because looking at the rise of Johnny Kenny and Callum Osmand, is it possible Rodgers got it wrong about another player he signed for Celtic?
