Celtic told what is ‘harsh’ for the opposition ahead of Hibernian facing Brendan Rodgers’ side

Celtic have a chance to boost their Treble chances against Hibernian in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

Several Premiership sides are expected to bow out of the quarter-final stages, with Hearts facing Dundee, as Aberdeen and St Johnstone lock horns with lower league opposition.

David Gray’s side beat Celtic last time out at Easter Road in what was a pretty poor first half showing from the champions.

Since then, Hibs have continued their strong form, including beating Hearts in the Edinburgh derby at the weekend.

But they face a different animal altogether at the weekend because it’s the best team in Scotland at Celtic Park.

Hibs might be in strong form and 15 unbeaten in all competitions, but they were sent a pretty simple message about facing Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic.

Hibernian told the reality of facing Celtic at Parkhead

Only Bayern Munich in the Champions League have won at Celtic this season, as Aberdeen and Club Brugge are the only other sides to pick up draws.

Other than that, it has been pure domination and Andy Halliday, albeit he feels he is going to get stick for saying it, made it clear that Hibs won’t beat Celtic and progress in the Scottish Cup.

Former player Dylan McGeouch added and explained how it’s ‘harsh’ for the opposition because they can do anything they want, but if ‘Celtic turn up’, then there is only one result, as he told Open Goal.

“I don’t,” responded Halliday, on if Hibs can beat Celtic. “I will get caned for that, but you can only give your opinions.

“Celtic are just (a different level), especially at Celtic Park. Celtic had conceded, what was it, three goals at home all season and it was three of them against Aberdeen. Nobody else has scored against them at Celtic Park.”

McGeouch added: “It’s harsh on every other team, right, but if Celtic turn up, then they win. No matter how well you are doing there. That’s what I mean.

“It’s almost like, if they get beat at Parkhead, it’s on Celtic like being miles off it. If they turn up, then they have enough.”

This will be Hibs’ third visit to Celtic Park this season in a third different competition after the Treble-chasers also knocked them out of the League Cup and saw them off in the Premiership.

Either way, they have their work cut out because Rodgers’ record on home soil has been immense.

You just can’t see how this goal-crazy Celtic side doesn’t find the back of the net, as many players will need to have a serious off day for the unthinkable to happen.

It also needs to be noted that no team has been able to stop Celtic from scoring at home this term, not even the might of Bayern Munich.
