Celtic have released their annual Christmas advert video, which every season showcases what is for sale in the Hoops shops.

With the shops closed due to lockdown, the purchases will need to be made online this Christmas. Unsurprisingly, with the lockdown still in effect, the advert is a stripped down affair compared to previous years.

It is based on the poem ‘the night before Christmas’, and sees Neil Lennon in the role of narrator. The stars of the advert this season though are recent Scotland heroes Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie. They feature in Celtic pyjamas, and have to do some ‘acting’. They should probably stick to the day jobs to be honest.

Hoops striker features as an elf

Odsonne Edouard also makes a brief cameo, and there is a role for Leigh Griffiths as an elf, alongside a young Celtic fan who asks him when he can return to Celtic Park so the team. A question we all wish we had an answer for.

Rather hilariously, a number of first-team players feature as ‘reindeers’ helping to find goods in the Celtic Superstore to give to the fans. Hoops captain Scott Brown also appears demanding to know why Christie and McGregor aren’t wearing Celtic strips to get prepared for the game.

Finally, Neil Lennon appears to finish narrating the poem. Perhaps the most interesting part of the video is the chance to see The Celtic Way on the road to the stadium all done up in Christmas lights. Sadly fans won’t be walking up that road any time soon.

Fans are missing being at stadium

Some Celtic fans on Twitter were quick to give their reaction to the video. One fan claimed to be an ’emotional wreck’ after watching the video. It seems that many fans are missing being at Celtic Park this season, and the video has brought back the memories.
