We’ve got Abada, he’s on the wing, we’ve got Kyogo doing his thing, Ange is our leader, we’ll follow Celtic all over the world.
What started as a chant embracing ‘Jumping All Over the World’ by Scooter has become a bona fide anthem for 21-22. It’s catchy, it’s simple and oftentimes, Abada is on the wing, and Kyogo’s done his thing.
The duo, plus manager Ange Postecoglou, became the darling of supporters early in the season. That love-in has broadly continued, and with Abada in fine form over the start of 2022, the chant is likely to quieten any time soon.
In this year’s first two games, Abada struck a peach at Alloa, and did some important press work to set up a debut goal for Daizen Maeda against Hibernian.
He’s likely to hear the tune more often. And Abada, speaking to Celtic’s in-house social media, responded to a question about the chant in a Q+A session.
On the song, Abada said [Celtic FC]: “I get really so excited every time I hear that song from the fans – it always helps me to perform at my best.”
Naturally, Abada answered a range of questions. Asked about the influence of Nir Bitton in his signing for Celtic, the winger said [Celtic FC]: “I spoke to him only once about Celtic before joining, he said it’s a big club with amazing fans. He was right – I love it here!”
He also tackled enquiries on steak, Glasgow and what video games he plays. As ever, it’s really good content from the club.
Abada deserves his Celtic Park song; he’s had a phenomenal debut campaign
Few things here, before we dive into an analysis of Liel Abada. One: he’s just 20 years old. Two: he moved from the Israeli top-flight and Three: Initially, his signing was seen as another Dudu Dahan enterprise. There were more than one or two observers a bit cynical about bringing him in.
But he made an immediate impact, scoring on his debut against FC Midtjylland, and never looked back. Admittedly, there was a spell of less inspiring form late in 2021, but he did also score twice while being played through the middle, in the midst of a striker crisis.
Overall, his output has been fantastic. He has 11 goals and 8 assists to his name, barely out of his teens and in his first season outside his native Israel.
It’s hard to know what more anyone could realistically ask for. And so, it’s absolutely right that he has his own terrace anthem, along with Kyogo and Ange Postecoglou. He impressed early, and he’s impressed often, since.
In the back end of the 21-22 season, we’re going to need everyone at it to recapture our title and compete in three competitions. Given Abada’s influence thus far, we’ve got to hope the enthusiastic, direct winger has plenty left in the tank.
With excellent end product and considerable pace, Abada has been a threat all season. He deserves his Celtic terrace anthem, make no mistake.
